Easter at the Bandshell - Willingly and Generously

Yesterday our church did Easter at the Bandshell. It was all hands - phew! So much work went into the morning. So many gave of their time and talents willingly and generously.

My friend, Grace, met me at Starbucks at 5:30 to help me with coffee orders. Willingly. Generously.

My fellow worship leader, Matt, just nailed the service. SO. MANY. EXCEL. SHEETS. Willingly and generously.

The worship team. Willingly. Generously.

The Audio Team was there first. 6am call time responsible for set up, breakdown, clean up, running the service behind the scenes. Willingly and generously.

Our visuals team. Willingly and generously.

And most importantly, Josh who put our kids to bed three nights in a row without me, and kept them fed and bathed. And my MIL who gave them the kid Easter complete with baskets, an egg hunt, and a delicious Easter meal. Willingly and generously.

I hope this Easter was a microcosm of the Christian church. So many hearts and hands serving extra. I texted the crew a verse from 2 Corinthians 12:15 "I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls." It reminded me, in part, of the early church in Macedonia "for in a true test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For they gave according to their means, of their own accord, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints..they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us."

And that's what I saw yesterday - a heart willing to be spent for God.

"I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your Name forever." Psalm 86:12

Your Yesterday Is Not Your Tomorrow

Abby and I stopped on the way home from school to marvel at the view. Not an hour earlier it was pouring rain. The ocean was upset - the waves rushing in, again and again, pounding against the sand in an unrelenting tide.

And yet later, clear as day, calm, and peaceful.

Your yesterday is not your tomorrow.
