Fire

We have a fire going near us that has burned 22,000 acres and is still roaring. Many of you have checked in on us. Thank you. We are fine.

This was a picture from our front lawn two nights ago as the fire hit the ridge of the mountain. The distance is about 10 miles and for a split second you think, what if?

Josh and I have moved 6 times in 5 years so our stuff has been pretty curated up until this point. Then we bought a house and had a second kid. Hello explosion of things we never knew we needed!

What would we take if we were evacuated? The reality is, not much - clothes, important documents, Emerson's blankey, and whatever else is an immediate need. But the truth is, all the rest of it, I could let go - the house, the furniture, all of the stuff.

While the fire raged today we went to our home church. It was a testimony service and I saw a glimpse of how powerfully God is moving in many people's lives. Afterwards I had some pretty powerful words spoken into me. Our true treasures right before me, ones that I don't have to worry will ever leave me, and that I carry in my heart always.

"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:20

I'm going to sleep praying for the people battling that blaze and thanking Jesus for giving me eternal treasures. What a hope!
